How to Configure Background / Skin Ads
Background Ads (also known as site skins or wallpaper takeovers) replace the default background of your website with a branded sponsor graphic. The entire left and right gutter areas outside your main content wrapper become clickable advertising spaces.
To configure Background Ads, go to WordPress Admin > AdFuz > Global Ads and click Edit Settings on the Background card.
Background Ad Rule Settings

Section titled “Key Parameters:”- Ad Space: Assigns the ad space containing your high-resolution background creative (e.g.,
Global Background Space (ID: 9)). - Priority: Determines which sponsor background displays if multiple background campaigns are active.
- Targeting Scope: Apply sitewide across
All Pages, or restrict takeovers to specific categories (e.g. Gaming, Tech, or Sports sections).
Best Practices for Background Wallpaper Creatives
Section titled “Best Practices for Background Wallpaper Creatives”- Recommended Dimensions:
1920 × 1080 pxor2560 × 1440 pxhigh-resolution wallpaper. - Safe Center Area: Keep the central
1200pxarea relatively clean or neutral, as your WordPress site’s main content body will cover this center section. - Focus on Side Gutters: Place primary sponsor branding, slogans, and CTA graphics in the left and right 200px–350px margins.
- File Size Optimization: Compress background graphics as
.webpor optimized.jpg(< 350 KB) to ensure rapid initial page load.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Section titled “Step-by-Step Setup Guide”- Go to AdFuz > Ads and create a high-resolution Image Ad containing your background takeover artwork.
- Go to AdFuz > Campaigns and create a campaign with the background creative.
- Go to AdFuz > Ad Spaces and verify the
Global Background Space (ID: 9)is active and linked to the campaign. - Open AdFuz > Global Ads > Background > Edit Settings.
- Set Status to
Activeand verify the Targeting Scope. - Click Save Settings.
